When running a website, having fast loading pages can mean the difference between captivating a reader and losing them for good. Simple techniques which I plan on explaining can help speed up your website and in turn increase your Search Engine Optimization (SEO) as well as user retention rate.
Starting with images, if you haven’t compressed your images, do so now. Sites such as Image Optimizer are able to greatly reduce the size of your images, sometimes up to 50%, which will drastically increase your page loading speed. If possible, completely avoiding using images as CSS3 is able to quite often do the same with without thousands of extra lines which an image would represent, not to mention the extra GET requests made to the server.

If you are a website owner, you must have heard about Alexa whilst reading website tutorials or “how to get more traffic to my website” blog posts therefore you should be aware that your Alexa rank is important to your website. Websites ranked above the 100,000 mark are classed as a “Top Site” and a lot of information is then available for that particular website. However, if your website is ranked below the 100,001 mark, your site is then not classed as a “Top Site” and information lacks for your website.

Good Customer Service is always welcomed at the end of a sale of a product or service. However, how can you offer the best after sales service?
Recently, I had a customer who purchased a copy of my Lime Splash HTML Template. Unfortunately, he was not able to access the download which is located on Propelly’ servers. As I saw this problem as my fault and not the customers nor Propelly’, I sent the customer an email apologising and attached a copy of the template in order to secure and seal the deal. However, should I have not have been notified of this mistake, the customer may have lost their money but I would have lost my creditability, which for a business, is bad news.
